THE BIGGER PICTURE
There were fears that Mbappe would also be missing for a shot at more major silverware, with European title holders Real in Qatar for a meeting with Mexican outfit CF Pachuca. Carlo Ancelotti’s side head into that game looking to land a second trophy of the season, having already lifted the UEFA Super Cup.

DID YOU KNOW?
It would appear as though Mbappe will be cleared to play some part in the contest as the 25-year-old is back on the grass. He has been put through his paces on Monday, giving him a little over 48 hours in which to prove his fitness before Ancelotti settles on a matchday squad in the Middle East.
